Room 19's wonderful assembly presentation of pepeha and korowai!

Mathematics IRL

We had great fun with Measurement this week in Room 19!

We used different parts of our body to measure objects in and around the classroom!

Next week we will share our observations and understandings of how non-standard units of measurement 'measure up.'

We recorded our data.

Isaac uses his feet to measure the width of the playgorund!

Cimone also uses her feet!
Sophie chose to measure the wobbly bridge with her hands.

Caleb and Finn both combined their body lengths to measure the playground width! They the worked out what was different when only one person's body was used!

Laura carefully records her findings.

Aston somehow measured the entire fireman's pole with his hand width!

Room 19 Whanau.

Hello!
In Room 19 we have been sharing stories and information about our families as part of investigating what makes us who we are.
We have loved hearing about how families came to be living here in New Zealand and some of the childhood memories of our parents and Grandparents!

Madison shared her family Coat of Arms.
She also shared her mum's memory journal with a beautiful tapestry she had made as a small child.

Chloe showed her mother's family photo.

Olivia told us all about where her family had come from and their Coat of Arms too!

Isla told us a great deal about Holland and we all passed around the dolls in traditional costume she brought! We had a great discussion about windmills, dykes, tulips, clogs and cheese!

Poppy shared a book which details her family history! We really enjoyed looking at the family tree and realising how many people can all be connected in one family tree!
